The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Sir Mike Okiro has restated that the Commission under his watch has set a time limit of ninety (90) day within which any disciplinary problem involving a police personnel must be resolved by the Force headquarters and forwarded to the Commission for a decision to be taken. He made this known while receiving the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, when it paid an oversight visit to the Police Service Commission on Monday 4th November, 2013 at its Abuja office.
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Sir (Dr.) Mike Mbama Okiro has promised to work with ALL Nigerian Nationals in the Diaspora towards the repositioning of the Nigeria Police Force for efficient service delivery
Mr Okiro made the promise while receiving the executives of the organisation who paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Thursday, 10th October, 2013.
The Honourable Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Sir (Dr) Mike Mbama Okiro has directed the Inspector General of Police, M.D. Abubakar to carry out a thorough investigation on the alleged humiliation and stripping naked of a Female Police Officer in the public at Onitsha, Anambra Sate by a businessman as widely reported in the Vanguard Newspaper of 18th September, 2013 and report findings to the Commission.
The Police Service Commission under the leadership of Sir (Dr.) Mike Mbama Okiro, IGP, (rtd), CFR, NPM mni, held its 2nd Plenary Meeting on Tuesday 24th September, 2013 and various issues bordering on the repositioning of the Nigeria Police Force for effective service delivery in line with Mr. President’s transformation agenda were discussed.
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Sir Mike Okiro, inaugurated the Commission’s Standing Committees on Thursday September 12, 2013. In his speech, Okiro stated that the inauguration is necessary for the statutory functions of the Commission to be carried out effectively.
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Sir Mike Okiro, believes that effective cooperation between the Police Service Commission and the Ministry of Police Affairs will give the Nigeria Police Force the desired support in its reformation bid. Okiro stated this during a courtesy visit to the Minister, Police Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade (rtd.) on Thursday September 5, 2013 with his Commissioners.
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Sir Mike Okiro has called for a Civil Security Force Strategy for the Police during his address to the graduating course participants of Cadet ASP Course 25/Cadet Inspector Course 40 at the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. The Academy graduated 263 ASPS and 222 Cadet Inspectors at the event.
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Sir Mike Okiro has advocated for co-operation amongst the various agencies responsible for the provision of security in the country. Okiro made the appeal for inter-agency co-operation to stem the tide of security challenges plaguing the country on Thursday, 29th August, 2013 when the National Committee for the Development of National Policy on Public Safety led by Professor Femi Odekunle, a renowned scholar of Criminology visited the Commission with other members of the Committee to solicit for the Commission’s support.
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Sir Mike Mbama Okiro has called for the use of Cleaner Energy in the domestic affairs of Nigerians. Okiro made the call when the officials of EnviroFit and Tower Group paid him a courtesy call to solicit for his support towards the introduction of cleaner, healthier, convenient and cost saving energy that would not impair the health of Nigerians.
