19-06-02 Cooperation Between the PSC & EFCC

The Police Service Commission has pledged its maximum cooperation to the new Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mrs. Farlda Waziri. The Chairman of the Police Commission, Mr. Parry Osayande gave the pledge today in Abuja when he received in audience the new EFCCboss.

Mr. Osayande said the Police Commission will do its best to assist Mrs. Waziri succeed in Her new assignment which he said was a daunting one. He said the new FFCC Chairman has the credentials and quality to make a success of her tasking assignment and enjoined her to always count on the support and cooperation of the Police Service Commission.

Mr. Osayande told his visitor that the new board of the Police Commission has resolved to create a level playing ground within the Nigeria Police Force in respect to matters of promotion and recruitment, adding that the Commission will at all times be guided by fairness and justice.

He said the Commission will soon zero-in on the quality of people recruited into the Force, stressing that one of the problems of the Nigeria Police has been that of poor quality of intakes and the poor condition of where they are trained.

Mr. Osayande said the Commission will now be interested in those who enter the Force and will also be interested in how they are trained. He noted that there is the need for massive injection of funds into the Police Force especially in the area of training, stressing that the nation's Police Colleges have remained inadequate and in a terribly poor state.

Mrs. Waziri had earlier commended the new board of the Police Commission headed by Mr. Osayande for its far reaching innovative decisions aimed at repositioning of the Nigeria Police.

She saw the recent approval by the Police Commission for the promotion of deserving Police Officers as a commendable intervention that will surely raise the morale of the Officers.
