At the 21st Plenary meeting of the Police Service Commission, held on Wednesday the 9th of February, 2011, the Commission in exercise of the powers vested in it by Section 153 (i) and (m) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Police Service Commission (Establishment) Act 2001, took far reaching decisions in its bid to Reposition, Refocus and Reform the Nigeria Police Force to meet the requirements of a 21st Century Security Organization alive to its responsibilities.
2. The Commission approved the promotion of the following Deputy Commissioners of Police to the Rank of Commissioners of Police. They are:
(i) Usman Akila Gwarry;
(ii) Danladi Yirami Mshelbwala;
(iii) Kalafite Helen Adeyemi (Mrs.); and
(iv) Solomon E. Arase.
All the (4) four promotions are with effect from 20th December, 2010.
3. Similarly, the Commission equally reconfirmed the promotion of Assistant Superintendent of Police Ernest Ikogwe to the Rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police. While Inspector Hilary Oguzie Chigozie was promoted to the Rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police.
4. The Honourable Chairman of the Commission, while congratulating the promoted Officers, enjoined them to put in their utmost best towards the repositioning of the Nigeria Police Force, while noting that to whom much is given, much is expected of.
